Refrigerators Last year the rooms that had a double and twin bed now have a QUEEN and twin bed! Room #9 & 11 have been upgraded to a "memory foam" mattress. No, this does not mean a rate increase... haven't had one for about four years now. The TV's in rooms #4 and #9 have a DVD player but I suggest you bring your own movies to watch. Remember to book well in advance for events that are the most popular: Yoga workshops, Writer's Workshop, reunions, holidays, residencies, street fairs, graduations, etc., etc., With only 12 rooms, all I have to do is sneeze and the rooms are gone! Not a sales pitch, I swear. We still have so much going on in town. Click on the image and you will get a new page from our local Chamber to see all the happenings in town. You can also head toward the bottom of the page for my semi-updated calendar of events. (Click on the image!)Something new: Shampoo dispensers! Many of you have suggested I eliminate the mini-bottles and mini-soaps and opt for the shower dispensers. So, I now have them and their loaded with VERY NICE liquid soap and conditioning shampoo. Last year I threw away almost 2,000 partly used mini-shampoos and the same number of soap bars! I will still have them available but I am hoping you will try the new system. I'm not cheap... it costs more to use the dispensers because the mini's are actually very inexpensive. I just hate to see them head to the dump. It's a small town kinda thing... Both the B&B and my little motel often times operate with no one "at the helm". These are one person operations and often times you will find the owners out and about, shopping, visiting family or friends, etc. Be prepared to check yourself in when you arrive. I have special ways for you to check in when there is no one home so please don't be offended when you get here. At night, I put out the breakfast, set the coffee maker on auto-pilot, count the sheep and head off to blissful slumber. Again, check yourself in make yourself at home (and be very, very quiet... the other guests will thank you!). You will find most of the town is this same way... but I still have a camera in the lobby... What makes a cheap motel a great motel? It's difficult to price the motel correctly... if you are from a big city or from the east or west coast, a motel for $59 must be a dump. If you are from the midwest or suburbia, USA then $59 sounds kinda high (after all, you can get a Super 8 for less than that!). The point here is that you get a cute little room (about 12' x 14'), filled with amenities in a beautiful country setting and close to our little downtown (about a mile and a half). My challenge is to get people to stop in and see the place. Too often these little gems have become run down or worse. Not here! It's cheap because I'm comfortable with that concept, I've been in the travel business for about 15 years and since I love a bargain, I love giving a bargain. If you want a pool, 24 hour desk service, etc. hmmm... best go someplace else. Get on a wait-list if you don't see a date that fit's into your life journey to Yellow Springs (come on, you know what I'm talking about or you wouldn't be thinking of coming here!). I don't take your credit card unless/until the room becomes available so there's nothing to lose.
There is a small fridge in the lobby on the honor system for sodas and snacks... honor system, ok? No, really, put the 50 cents in the jar. Thanks! There is also a small microwave in the lobby to warm up your leftovers but don't use it while I'm brewing coffee or the office fuse will blow... no, I don't want to talk about it... Going to see a show at Peach's? Please, please, please check in BEFORE you go to the show. I can't stay up until 1am and keep a good temperament. This doesn't mean I won't welcome you with open arms if you check in late... it just means that I'll probably have bad breath and B.O... credit cards are required for walk-in guests. Also, if you stay up late, please head for the gazebo or fire circle... it's impolite to park yourself outside the rooms for late night conversation. (thanks!) Click here for a room-by-room chart with my amazingly low rates for each room. Remember, you'll also get my famous continental "breakfast basket" and a "Clean & Cozy" room! | Enjoy your
"breakfast baskets"! It's a great way to have an
a.m. snack before going out on you hikes, bike rides
or just hanging out downtown. But please, let me keep the
basket and bandana... |
My "clean
& cozy" rooms are quite affordable. No, not
the cheapest thing in the area but certainly the
best! With all the money you save staying here
you can leave a little $omething for my cleaning
crew...hint, hint.
** Please
note: I am NOT trying to be the
cheapest motel in the area (just the best)!
Heading north on the bikeway?
The entrance to town is marked by a large iron and
wood bridge you will pass under. After about 500
feet, look for the (horse) riding center. After
about another 500 feet look for Allen St. (it only
goes left). Sorry, it's uphill. Take this
road until it ends on Xenia Ave. (Rt. 68), turn left
and go for about 3 blocks. The motel is on the
right shortly past the Dollar General store. If
you stay on the bike trail for about another 1/2 mile
(instead of turning left onto Allen St.), you can
visit the downtown area first.
From the Dayton airport. Take I-70 east to I-675 south. Take the Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd. exit (#20) Turn right at the light and go about 6 miles until the road dead-ends into Xenia Ave. (Rt. 68). Go right for 1 1/2 miles. When you get to the car wash, slow down. Look, to your right... It's the motel! This is the easy way to the motel... not necessarily the fastest, but this way you will get to drive through the village. Directionally impaired? Take I-70 all the way to Rt. 68 (exit 52A) and head south for about 8 1/2 miles. From the Columbus airport. Take I-70 west to Rt. 68, exit 52A (just past Springfield). Go south about 7 miles. Once in downtown Y.S. go another 1 1/2 mile. We're on the right. From Cincinnati.
Take I-75 north to I-675. At the Dayton-Yellow
Springs Rd. exit (#20) turn right at the
light. See "from the Dayton airport" for the
rest of the directions. |
